DIRECTOR
Mika Mattila is a Finnish filmmaker specialising in creative documentary films that explore the boundaries of the genre as an art form. He emphasises in his work global perspectives in terms of subject matters, collaborators as well as the audiences. Mattila divides his time between the roles of director and cinematographer, with his cinematography consistently screening at major international film festivals around the world. Mattila lived in Beijing from 2005 until 2012, working extensively in East Asian region. Mattila’s directorial debut, Chimeras (2013) has toured the festival circuit across the globe, gaining few prizes along the way and a high critical acclaim. Mattila is founder of production company, Ideasthetic llc. Company is based in Helsinki, but focuses on international co-productions around the globe, working in close collaboration with some of the leading figures within independent documentary film scene.
PRODUCER
Markku Niska. His background includes both working in film distribution and production before setting up his own production company in 2005. He has schooling from both a film school and a business college. Prior to working in film he also was a member of the National sailing team of Finland. He is also an active member of the European Documentary
Network, EDN.
